In 1905 the largest oil strike of its time was discovered--Glen Pool. Just four years later, Tulsa was home to over 125 oil companies--all hoping to cash in on this new found "Black Gold". By 1920, the title “Oil Capital of the World” was coined for a small, but rapidly growing city in the central United States--Tulsa, Oklahoma.
